Coach Development Programme

The autumn of 2013 will see the introduction of a new set of ECB accredited courses, full details of the pathway can be found at http://www.ecb.co.uk/development/coach-education/.

The new ECB pathway (shown above) is split in to Coach Environments and includes the following courses:

1)     Coach Support Environment

  • ECB Cricket Activator
  • ECB Coach Support Worker

2)     Coaching Children Environment

  • ECB Certificate in Coaching Children (UKCC2)

3)     Coaching Young People & Adults Environment

  • ECB Certificate in Coaching Young People & Adults (UKCC2)

In addition to the above courses Middlesex Cricket will also be running the following courses as part of our programme:

  • a)  ECB Club Coach Assessment (previous pathway)
  • b)  Middlesex Cricket Bespoke Coach Development Workshops
  • c)  Disability Inclusion Training Workshop
  • d)  Chance to Shine Coach Development Workshop

 

1)   Coach Support Environment

CSE

ECB Coach Support Worker

Who Should Attend? Individuals wishing to assist under the direct supervision of ECB qualified coaches in the delivery of high quality practical cricket coaching sessions within a club environment.

Commitment Attend a 6 hour workshop

Pre-Requisites for Certification Current CRB, Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Aged 16 years at least to begin the course.

Saturday 5 April 2014 Middlesex Indoor Cricket School,   Finchley

Course Cost = £100

All times are: Middlesex Indoor Cricket School, Finchley – 12pm to 7pm

(There will also be an opportunity for Borough Development Groups to host local Coach Support Worker courses over 2 x 3hr weeknight modules.  Dates for these will be distributed through the Cricket Development Officer network or please contact Hannah Baxter, hannah.baxter@middlesexccc.com, for more details)

2) Coaching Children Environment

Coaching children is a challenging and enormously rewarding role within the coaching pathway. Players need expertise, support and passion at every level of their development; this course is designed with your players’ needs at its core.

In turn, the experiences, tasks, practices and sharing of ideas which you experience during the course are design to help equip you with the tools you need to meet your players’ needs.

Just as players learn quickly, so do coaches. The challenge for all coaches is to learn as they develop, just as players do.

CCE 2

ECB Certificate in Coaching Children (UKCC2)

Who Should Attend? Coaches who are going to Coach Children from 6 to 13 years of age. They may be new coaches, existing UKCC1/ECB L1 or Young Person and Adult coaches who wish to access ‘child specific’ content

Commitment Coaches will be required to attend 8 x 3 Hour Modules, complete ‘off-course’ home-study ‘online E-modules’ tasks in between modules and 6 x 1 hour sessions of supported practice usually in your own Club Coaching environment before the third day of the course. Supported practice must be supervised by a qualified coach (minimum level 2 or equivalent).

Pre-requisites for Certification Emergency 1st Aid Certificate, Safeguarding & Protecting Children, current CRB, aged 17 years at least to begin the course and 18 years at Assessment.

Applications from candidates who have not attended a UKCC1 or ECB Coach Support Worker will be assessed on an individual basis to ensure that entry to the pathway is at the relevant level for the coach.  Some candidates may be asked to attend the ECB Coach Support Worker prior to a UKCC2.

Chance to Shine Coach Development Day

A mandatory course for all coaches delivering on Chance to Shine projects, the course gives coaches a better understanding of the overall scheme as well as practical ideas they can use in the delivery of their specific project.

Integrated in the day is the ECB Working in Schools module that helps coaches relate to the specific needs of schools and help them plan to meet these.  Practical ideas are integrated to help coaches deal with large groups and a range of players and abilities.

Coaches must hold a minimum of a Level 2 coaching qualification in order to attend this day.

Cost = FOC to all Chance to Shine coaches

Disability Inclusion Training Course

This course is delivered in association with the English Federation of Disability Sports and helps coaches make their training sessions more accessible to disabled people through the understanding of different disabilities and the needs that come with this.  The coaches are given the chance to apply these in a practical environment helping to build confidence and knowledge.
